Hi 👋 Prado here

How I created ColdEmail101.com in a single weekend:

I tweeted this cold email I got from a marketing student from New York looking for an internship 👇

Lots of people DMed & commented that they want to learn "How to write a cold email" I realised of shiz… this is a very real problem.

Step 1: Found a problem - (People want to learn how to write a cold email)

Step 2: Figured out a solution 🚀

I've been collecting "Cold Email" resources for over 2 years now. It's amazing content but just needs a bit of re-arranging.

Step 3: Created a list (Early users + Hype)

I did this 👇

Over 2k people wanted access but I couldn't DM them all because of Twitter API restrictions. They almost blocked me lol. What I should have done is create an Email List. Lesson learned.

Step 4: Feedback

I DMed 8 people for feedback. Only 2 replied (@aaditsh & @sahilypatel - Thanks guys)

But I needed quick feedback as I wanted to finish the product by the weekend. If you got time, wait for the feedback or re-iterate as they come.

Step 5: Created a gumroad page

  1. Made a couple of simple 1920x1080 graphics

  2. Added the notion link

  3. "Pay what you want" basis Even though the product is completely free... this amazing person paid me $5 ❤️

Step 6: Hit Publish

This was the most important problem of them all. Sending the product to early users. The plan was to use SuperDMs

Then two things happened:

  1. SuperDMs couldn't take the load (I don't blame them) The Twitter API is the worst.

  2. Now I have to send over 1000 DMs.

But around the same time, @knlmsh

hit me up and said I'm working on something that can help you. We got on a call in the middle of the night and he showed me the not-yet ready product @twiftxyz

I was impressed. The best part the DMs will go through my account and not through the company's account. Few iterations and it was ready. We gave it a test run. I sent everyone who commented on this tweet a DM. The response was amazing ❤️

Few ups and downs 👇

By then we knew the product works. At least with 70 people.
It was time to bring the big guns.
1.8k plus DMs in total and by the end, we were able to send around 500-700 DMs the entire week. I consider this a success.

But next time, I'd probably go with an Email list.

The goal of this project was to teach and create something that's timeless. It's still in beta and will be iterating and adding more resources by March 2022.
