Essay of the week - HMUN India 2023
We were given an opportunity to cover Harvard Model United Nations India 2023 conference. I run an event storytelling company where we cover events with photography, videography, aftermovies, IG reels, etc.
Here’s some of our work:

Things I noticed:
The goal of this essay was not to talk about what we did there or do promotion of my company that we do event storytelling but to talk about what did I observe when I was there.
Quick context: I’ve never been to an MUN.
I went there and I saw 1200+ young students from top schools in India.
After the opening ceremony, they were seperated and sent to committee sessions.
Now, these school going 13-18 year olds just went from being a student to being a delegate who is representing a country at a global stage.
Ex: Kishore is a kid from Kanpur studying 9th grade, still buys a lollipop everyday but when he came to HMUN he came as a delegate representing let’s say France.
He has to fight & vote for France.
The mindset just changes. You’ve been put among 100+ countries. You have to voice your opinion. You have to change people’s minds.
I heard a girl conclude her point with an Oppenheimer quote. Absolute goosebumps.
Even though it’s a fake setup with no actions or consequences, a young mind is put through a struggle into thinking and making everyone believe what they are fighting for something.
More importantly, they are making new friends from across the country. They are leveling up on their English. They are also meeting a vast number of new people from opposite sex.
I was thinking this from my 14 year old cousin’s perspective. He’s studying in a small town in a school that hardly does experiential learning and believes in grades as everything.
I’d love to build something where these young kids from around the world (doesn’t matter where they come from.. big city or small town) and they learn and do more experiential learning.
But until then, if you know anyone doing any experiential learning… send the kids you know to those experiences. It’s a great value add to their lives.

The learning through memes was fascinating. I was wondering what kind of topics/subjects can be taught through this way🤔
I would love to be part of that education system.🤞🏻
