Essay of the week
Humans store learned words and just a few letters are enough to recognize whole words.
Did you know that your brain reads faster than your eye? Give it a shot
Going back to basics
Frontal lobe handles speech production, reading fluency, grammatical usage, etc.
Temporal lobe handles decoding sounds and language.
Angular gyrus is where all the dots are connected. B-A-L-L is the word Ball.
Independent research by Stanford and Harvard shows that Fast ForWord creates physical changes in the brain as it builds new connections.
A quick history of Bionic Reading:
Renato casutt developed Bionic Reading in 2016. But the idea was born in 2009, during his typographic design study
He worked at a family business during the day and worked on Bionic reading in the evening and night. Test and Trash. 6 years.
In 2020, he went all-in for Bionic Reading. No pay.
This spring he was allowed to a small study at Swiss University. Swiss Institute InnoSuisse supported him and donated money for his study.
The question of the study was simple: Reading on the screen is better with Bionic Reading or not.
The study didn't have clear results. The majority had a positive effect and some found the effect disturbing. But Bionic Reading helps people with dyslexia
Here's how you can add Bionic Reading to your chrome extension:
Click on this GitHub page then follow the steps below
Download the latest build Zip
Open the file location (e.g. Downloads)
Click the ZIP file > Extract All
Open Chrome > go to this link chrome://extensions/
Enable "Developer mode".
6. Click "Load unpacked" and then choose the extracted folder.
To pin the extension, click the puzzle icon on the top right of Chrome, then pin the extension. Voila
Start reading using bionic reading and let me know if it works for you. Peace.
