Every Friday, I publish one essay & 10 interesting things that will help you become healthy, wealthy and wise šŸ‘‡

Essay of the week

Every now and then, I take my Twitter account private. There are many reasons and I want to talk about a few.

1. The most important goal behind going private is community. Building stronger and deeper relationships with the community.

Sometimes I go private when there is a huge number of people coming in.

The best part about going private is that the algo knows the ceiling. It’s the number of followers you have.

So whenever you tweet, it’ll reach a higher number of people because the algo doesn’t have to figure out what’s the tweet about, who all will be interested in it (because most of the tweets are interest and topics based)

When you go private, the algo probably doesn’t have enough info and sends it to as many people as possible.

2. Connecting like-minded people.

There are so many interesting people who follow me but don’t know each other.

I ask questions like these šŸ‘‡ and ask people to connect with each other.

Like-minded people with the same interests connect with each other.

If there are 3 or more people. Make a group. Connecting like-minded people is one of my Twitter goals and this is one of the best messages I ever got ā¤ļø

3. Home.

I feel very much at home when I go private. It’s just me and my friends chilling with each other for a few days.

It’s like a small conference but nothing’s changed. Just no outsiders.

4. I can talk about anything

There are no limits. I can shitpost or talk about something that normally most people talk about… while not worrying about how many RTs it got.

5. No more tracking.

Sometimes I track the value of content based on the number of comments, likes and RTs.

But when I’m private I don’t have to worry about them. The numbers go out the door when I go private.

6. Take feedback.

Take honest feedback.

7. No more bots and reply guy spams.

After I went private, My DMs are much calmer than usual. Comments sections are cleaner than usual.

Best part about being private is that I can talk about Web3, NFTs, DAOs, and MetaMask and not get stupid bots spamming my comment section.

I believe this is something everyone and every community should do once they believe they have enough people. I started this ritual back when I had less than 1000 followers.

And being very honest, the lower the number the better it is.

I think I’ll stay private forever. 1000 friends who talk to me regularly is more than enough. Or should I try for 5000 friends? šŸ¤”

Anyway, I love doing this on my Twitter. Until next time. Peace out šŸš€

I was watching that new Rings of Power show, and the opening credits have these abstract shapes forming and reforming in sand. They seemed strangely familiar, and I suddenly remembered I'd seen them before, they're Chladni figures! (1/x)

10. Quote of the week:

  • ā€œStay away from those people who try to disparage your ambitions. Small minds will always do that, but great minds will give you a feeling that you can become great too.ā€ — Mark Twain
    (Tweet this quote)

  • ā€œThe temptation to quit will be the greatest just before you're about to succeedā€ – Chinese Proverb
    (Tweet this quote)

  • ā€œThe less a writer discusses his work—and himself—the better. The master chef slaughters no chickens in the dining room; the doctor writes prescriptions in Latin; the magician hides his hinges, mirrors, and trapdoors with the utmost care.ā€

Afterword to "The Bagful of Dreams" in The Jack Vance Treasury (2007).
    (Tweet this quote)

I read this quote šŸ‘† and couldn’t completely understand it. So I asked and did this on Reddit and am very happy that I got these responses.
