Essay of the week - On post-religion world.
I was scrolling through Twitter and read this question by Pareen bhai ๐
A curious question clicked in my mind. Is a Post-religion world possible?
Well, Iโve read about it in the book โThe Lessons of History.โ They have a whole chapter called โReligion and Historyโ
I opened my note-taking app and replied on his tweet with this ๐
I cannot forget this quote by Napolean. โReligion has kept the poor from murdering the richโ
Religion plays a very important role in helping the society function.
History tells us that religion has helped parents and teachers to discipline the young.
Back in 1870, Atheists in France sent their kids back to Catholic schools as they couldnโt find ways to discipline them.
โFrance, the United States, and some other nations have divorced their governments from all churches, but they have had the help of religion in keeping social order.โ
Conclusion:
To answer the question - Will there ever be a post-religion world? To compress the answer in a single sentence, As long as there is poverty there will be gods.
