Hi ๐ Prado here
3 Things I thought worth sharing with yโall
1. In this internet age, Mentors are overrated ๐
I know this is a bold statement and itโs not a clickbait.
Hereโs why.
In the 1960s & 70s people who took a job usually end up staying in the same job till they got retired.
Changing industries & companies was like breaking a law back then โ
Donโt trust me? Go ahead ask your parents about it.
If you ask meโฆ personally Iโve changed over 5+ industries and worked with over 5 different companies (Not workedโฆ interned lol)
I first did Sales & Marketing,
then Event Management,
then Digital Marketing,
then B2B,
then Freelancing,
and now Iโm into Consulting.
Thatโs so many different things in 5 years and thatโs my leverage ๐
Mentors are not new in this world ๐ฏ
For example:
โPlatoโs Mentor was Socrates
And Aristotleโs mentor was Platoโ
Aristotleโs work helped in creating the foundation for the Western Philosophy and his disciple โFrancis baconโ created the foundation for the Scientific methods
Up until 20th-century people looked for a mentor because mentors were someone with experience and who were in the same industry
They lived a similar life and the mentee want to know-how ๐
But the Internet & Technology has disrupted it ๐
Everyone can share the know-hows from anywhere in the world.
Iโm stuck on a particular issueโฆ I just need to DM someone or google it to learn more about it.
If you are looking for someone to keep you accountableโฆ well then get a coach or an accountability partner)
(P.S: Life Coach is not a Mentor)
The world is moving too fast and changing rapidly every 5-10 years.
Hereโs a quick story โค๏ธ
Once a moderator asked Mark Cuban, โDo you have a mentor or were there people in your life who you considered mentors?โ
Even before the mod finishes the sentence Mark Cuban said โNoโ straight up.
Then he said wellโฆ I had one (I worked for him right after college) and he gave me one advice that I still remember
Take your pad, paper and a pen and when you sit in the meeting I want you to write down this word in the right-hand corner

Let me ask you a questionโฆ Have you tried getting a mentor?
I come from a small happy town and I don't know a lot of peopleโฆ I know a few entrepreneurs and I canโt ask them to give me their time as even they are figuring how to put food on the table โค๏ธ
So what should we do? Should we wait for a mentor to find us or go look for one?
Now this is what I call โJust-In-Time mentorโ โก๏ธ
A mentor doesnโt have to be a person. It can be a bunch of people, A book or Books, A community and many more ๐ฅ
You need to figure out what you need help with and DM, Email or Tweet someone you know who can help you with this (It can be an Influencer, Entrepreneur, Friend etc)
You can read a book on this topic too ๐
We keep saying โthere is so much content out there, we just need to go out there and find itโ
You just need to ask and theyโll help
Thatโs one of the reasons why I created the community on Twitter and I wonโt stop.
And if you think I can ever help you with anythingโฆ Iโm just a DM away (Hit me up)

So, I am answering the above three questions:-
1) I want to be a part of your community because I wanna learn about the startup world and life changing things.
2) I come from an entrepreneurial family background. So there are a lot of ideas that are discussed about businesses which are practical and applicable in real world. I would love to share as much as possible for the fellow people and learn new perspective from them. " You Grow By Growing Others."
3) From the community, I expect that I would be learning other's perspective and getting new insights about the world outside.
